Rebecca Galaxy is a children's cartoon created by Sugar Stevens for the television network Cartoon Central. While this is the first cartoon that Stevens has developed, due to the strong reception she received for her past work in cartoons -- Excitement Hour being the most notable -- Rebecca Galaxy has been greenlit already for two 13-episode seasons and was first announced in July during San Francisco Comic Con.
It will premiere September 5th, although promotion will being early-to-mid August.
Rebecca Galaxy is, by all accounts, your average 15-year-old girl. She is upbeat, popular, and just a bit prone to daydreaming, has a loving family -- mom, mom, and aunt -- goes to school, does well in drama club, so on and so forth... but more and more frequently she's been plagued with strange dreams. These dreams not only seem to follow some kind of narrative, but also elicit a sense of deja vu as if alluding to her own life.
A reoccurring figure in these dreams is a creature introduces themselves as Sonny. Sonny explains that they are Rebecca's guardian and have been protecting her memories; due to the nature of their powers they can only reenter the waking world through Rebecca's awareness being restored. Since her memories are finally returning, Sonny is able to exit Rebecca's dreams and takes the form of a human wearing a mask; they explain that Rebecca is a princess from a parallel dimension, and that her family members are actually knights from their old dynasty known as Nitrogen, Argon, and Oxygen who have stayed by her side to protect her while she's been memory- and powerless (but also because it's their duty).
The three of them are relieved that Rebecca's memories are coming back, because her powers can't be too far behind. They explain how Rebecca and her kingdom were forced from their home dimension by an invading force they still all know almost nothing about, but due to the nature of Rebecca's powers only hers were impacted at this time, meaning her knights had to wait for them to return before they could act further to try to return home and restore peace to their world. None of them seem to know who Sonny is and get suspicious that a spy from the invaders might be trying to communicate with or manipulate Rebecca, so despite their frequent communications Rebecca eventually begins to keep everything Sonny tells her a secret, or pretend that the information (when applicable) has returned to her as one of her memories.
Only Rebecca has the power to allow them to cross the galaxy where the crossroads between dimensions could be seen, but it'll take a while for her powers to return to the level of strength needed for that -- however, there is still more to do before they get to that stage. First they must find the citizens from their home dimension, who are scattered around living as humans with many of them similarly lacking memories (only the higher powered court-members retained theirs, Rebecca excluded because of the trauma of losing her powers). Sonny also tells Rebecca that there is still a way that she can look into the other dimension, but it involves her looking into Sonny's mind, which means Sonny has to remove their mask to share their own power with Rebecca.
Rebecca has reservations, remembering the concerns her knights had, but eventually agrees in the season 1 finale. Sonny resembles Rebecca in an inscrutable but unmistakable sort of way, only... still quite different, which Rebecca at first doesn't know what to make of until she sees into their mind: The invaders are trying to get into this dimension, and like Sonny, they all look like -- but unlike -- Rebecca's own people.

The protagonist; cheerful, outgoing, and optimistic with big dreams of stardom. Rebecca is a good student, although a little prone to daydreaming -- she frequently gets lost in thought, but is quick to recover and even quicker to devise no shortage of zany plans or schemes to get what she wants, help her friends, or otherwise solve a problem. True that she isn't the most "down to Earth" girl out there, but in Rebecca's life, being "down to Earth" will quickly become the least of her concerns.
